Cody Beats the Cold and is Back Home

Miracle Dog is Home

from lost to found
Cody is back at home, safe and sound and everyone's happy. May this "Wagging Tail" reunion give all wailtag folks with a Lost Pet hope that they'll find their dog, cat or bird! Here's Cody's story:
"After 3 nights in the cold with temps as low a -1F and no warmer in the day than 29F I am overjoyed to be able to tell you, little Cody (AKA "Miracle Dog") was returned to us as a result of a flyer we put out. Cody was found in a parking lot of the Asslym Gym in Palmer, only 1/4 mile from where he was lost at 4PM this afternoon still dragging his leash, very cold but after being examined by a vet most probably WILL RECOVER 100%...... Thank you to all who offered advice and prayers and help in trying to find Cody. He spent 66 hours in the cold and only God himself could have gotten him through this ordeal." Mark & Deanna

Christmas came early for a woman from Butler County.
After six months, Nell Bertran of Zelienople has her dog Bailey home for Christmas.
Bailey, a 7 year-old German shepherd, has been missing since June when the dog ran off during a thunderstorm while staying with a pet sitter in Hampton Township.
After several spottings of Bailey, Allegheny County Dog Warden Steven Stoehr found the dog under a building at an old lumberyard along Route 8. So with a flashlight in his mouth, he crawled into a hole and attempted to coax a reluctant Bailey into coming with him.
"I grabbed her by the back legs and was not letting go. I pulled her back through and I just bear hugged her, " Stoehr said.
But he was unable to get back out while holding on to Bailey, so the fire department was called in to cut holes in floorboards to free the two of them. Bailey was handed over to a very thankful Nell Bertran.
"Oh, oh I was crying. It's the best thing - it's like giving birth to your baby again, except it's coming from under a hole out of the floor! It's great," Bertran said.
She thanks Stoehr for what turned into a three-hour rescue mission and says having Bailey back is the best Christmas present ever.
Bailey appears to be in pretty good shape. They believe she survived by eating pet food that neighbors had left out and from eating road kill.
